blessing in time of sorrow

This is a post that I have been meaning to write for a while but haven't really known quite how to formulate it, but just decided to go ahead and give it a try...

One of the things that is kind of hard is to accept blessings in sorrow whether they seem related to the sorrow or not, but God continues to bless us despite Knox's accident and death; it is all a part of the big picture I guess. The one we don't get to see. The Lord has blessed us this summer mostly through his own people. We have made new friendships and deepened others. People have been kind and generous to us. Our children have gotten to experience what it is like for Christians to share one another's burdens. All of those are blessings to us. God provided us with someone to buy our old house and a beautiful house more suited to our needs than our other one was. We have been able to help others who are going through difficult times too because they know we understand. Non-believers have experienced the work of the gospel and the comfort of Christ through our crisis. We understand things we didn't before. Sometimes those blessings are hard to swallow, but they are blessings none-the-less and we are grateful for them. I guess I pray that we can recognize the blessings for what they are...gifts from God and be willing to accept them humbly and gratefully as He chooses to give them to us.
